Boundary, B.C. – Nk'Mip Forestry LLP (Nk’Mip Forestry) proudly announces the launch of its new website and logo, marking a significant milestone in its journey towards providing information on its sustainable economic development, environmental stewardship, and cultural preservation within the Osoyoos Indian Band (OIB) territory.
Formed in 2014, Nk'Mip Forestry emerged from the strategic vision of the Osoyoos Indian Band, recognizing the increasing need for sustainable forestry practices to drive economic growth while safeguarding cultural and environmental values.
The newly unveiled website serves as a complete platform for community members and the industry to learn about Nk'Mip Forestry's crucial role in maintaining and sustaining the forests within their traditional territory. Through the website, visitors will gain insight into the important work being done to protect local wildlife and water, mitigate wildfire risks, and contribute to the regional economy through job creation and sustainable practices.
According to Dan Macmaster, Head of Forestry, Nk’Mip Forestry, “Our primary goal through this website is to foster up-to-date communication with our community. This website allows us to showcase the pivotal role forestry plays in our region's ecosystem while keeping our community informed about our initiatives and contributions.”

An important part of this digital transformation is the unveiling of Nk'Mip Forestry's new logo, which perfectly represents the company's mission and values. Designed by Sandra Verhoeff, the logo blends elements of local wildlife, indigenous symbolism, and the region's natural beauty.
Explaining the inspiration behind the logo, Verhoeff shared, "In crafting the logo, I drew upon the breathtaking landscape of Oliver and Osoyoos, particularly the iconic Anarchist Mountain overlooking Osoyoos Lake. The howling coyote carved out of the mountain symbolizes Nk’Mip’s commitment to protecting and sustaining the surrounding forests. Incorporating one of the ears as a feather, a revered symbol of Indigenous peoples in B.C., signifies Nk’Mip’s respect for traditional wisdom and values."
The logo's design further incorporates elements such as the second ear as a green tree, representing the receding forest, while the blue lines depict the vital spirit of water, essential for the life of the forest and its inhabitants.
Nk'Mip Forestry's new website and logo exemplify the company's dedication to responsible forestry practices, community engagement, and Indigenous values. Through these digital assets, Nk'Mip Forestry reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development in the region.
This website also serves as a launching point for our two new Osoyoos Indian Band-owned forestry companies: Siya Forestry LP and Skemxist Solutions LP. Siya Forestry LP provides services in layout and development as well as silviculture work for licensees and other partnerships. Skemxist Solutions LP is a certified and professional operations company that focuses on road building and deactivation along with civil work with some of the biggest entities in the province.
